Beautiful struggle

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.

One day a small opening appeared.

He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours

as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.

Then it stopped, as if it couldn't go further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.

He took a pair of scissors and

snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon.

The butterfly emerged easily but

it had a swollen body and shrivelled wings.

The man continued to watch it,

expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge

and expand enough to support the body,

Neither happened!

In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life

crawling around.

It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness

and haste did not understand:

The restricting cocoon and the struggle

required by the butterfly to get through the opening

was a way of forcing the fluid from the body

into the wings so that it would be ready

for flight once that was achieved.

Sometimes struggles are exactly

what we need in our lives.

Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us.

We will not be as strong as we could have been

and we would never fly.

Mom’s Eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her…. She was such an embarrassment. .
She cooked for students & teachers to support the family.
There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me.
I was so embarrassed.
How could she do this to me?
I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.
The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”
I wanted to bury myself.
I also wanted my mom to just disappear..
I confronted her that day and said, ” If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”
My mom did not respond….
I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger.
I was oblivious to her feelings.
I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her.
So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.
Then, I got married.
I bought a house of my own.
I had kids of my own.
I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts, Then one day, my mother came to visit me.
She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.
When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited.
I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children!”
GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”
And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address,”
And she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.
So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.
After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.
My neighbors said that she died.
I did not shed a single tear.
They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,
I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scare your children.
I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion.
But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you.
I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.
You see…….. when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye.
As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye.
So I gave you mine.
I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

A total of 548 people responded to the survey over a six week period in September and October of 2009.

Poor Presentation Skills

The comments were very clear that this is a big issue. One respondent captured it well when they said, “The presenter lets the technology, not the content, become primary.” Audiences get annoyed when the presenter places more importance on the slides than the basics of communication, such as proper structure and delivery skills. Many people echoed the idea that the slides should support the message, not the presenter supporting the slides. This shows up in presentations in a number of ways, from presenters having way too many slides for the time allotted, presenters using canned slides without analyzing the needs of the audience, to not knowing how to use the technology. It is imperative that presenters get training on the basics of communicating a clear message and presentation skills in order to understand that PowerPoint should just be a tool to support their message, not the message itself.

Presenters not being prepared

The second most commented area was presenters who were not prepared either on the topic or the slides. Many comments talked about presenters who were not knowledgeable about the topic they were speaking about and relied on reading the slides since it was all they knew on this subject. My advice has always been to decline invitations to present where you are not knowledgeable. You make yourself (& your organization) look foolish. It was also clear that too many presenters don’t even run through the slides a single time before getting up in front of the audience. When you fumble through what is on each slide, you say to the audience that they are not important enough for you to have spent even thirty minutes preparing for this presentation. You would be better off e-mailing it to them. Again, it looks like we have to educate many presenters on the basics of preparing to communicate a message.

Non-professional graphics and use of animation

While these areas were covered partially by the main question on the survey, the third most popular area of comments dealt with the graphics and animation that makes the presenter look silly. The presenter may think it is “cute” or “cool”, but the audience certainly has a different opinion. They look at the cartoonish clip art, joke slides, garish colors, unnecessary reflections or shadows and effects such as 3-D and they immediately think less of the presenter and the ideas they are sharing. Remember that your audience is comparing your visuals to the professional ones that others use and in that light you will come up short of the mark. Everything you use in your presentation should demonstrate your professional approach and expert position on this topic. Don’t undermine your stature with amateurish selection of visuals or wacky animation effects.

Packing too much on a slide

The issue of text overload has been clearly articulated, but the comments also showed a dislike for packing a slide with graphics and tables or spreadsheets. When there are too many graphics on a slide, the audience is confused as to how they relate to one another and they miss the point you are trying to make. With large spreadsheets that have been pasted on the slide, the audience has no hope of figuring out what is there or what it means to them. That is why I suggest using the break down and zoom in technique to explain complex visuals.

Poor on non-existent template design

The final issue that was popular in the comments was the impact template design plays on the audience’s ability to listen and understand the message being delivered. As people said in the comments they wrote, when there are many fonts, titles change position, bullet points aren’t lined up, colors don’t seem to have meaning and the design leaves little room for content because of advertising and graphics, people get distracted from the message. In my experience there are two issues here. The first is the presenters who use no template or one of the distracting built-in templates. At least create a simple, clean one that is easy on the eyes. The second issue is with the templates designed by professionals who are good at design but don’t know how to create a proper PowerPoint template. It causes the presenters to manually adjust the position of objects to make it work, and most presenters aren’t designers, so what results is an inconsistent mish-mash on the slides. Every organization who pays a design professional (in-house or from the outside) to create a PowerPoint template must ensure that they know how to create the template so it is easy to use by the presenters.

Memilih Sahabat Baik Dan Beriman

Sahabat umpama penyuluh yang menerangi kegelapan. Di dalam kitab Hidayatul Salikin Imam Ghazali ada menyatakan: “Hendaklah kita memilih sahabat dengan 5 syarat.”

Orang Yang Berakal
Jika kita berkawan dengan orang kurang berakal ( jahil ) mungkin akan menyebabkan perkelahian. “Seteru yang berakal itu terlebih baik daripada kawan yang tidak berakal.” Seteru akan menegur kita apabila kita melakukan kesalahan. Perkara ini akan membolehkan kita membaiki kesalahan kita. Manakala sahabat yang tidak berakal akan mendiamkan diri walaupun kita melakukan kesalahan.

Baik Peribadi Dan Perangainya ( Akhlaknya )
Jangan bersahabat dengan orang yang jahat perangainya. Begitu juga orang yang sangat pemarah, derhaka kepada ibu bapa, tidak solat, tidak puasa dan orang yang meringan-ringankan agama.

Orang Yang Soleh
Jangan berkawan dengan orang yang fasik. Fasik ialah orang yang mengekalkan dosa besar dan dosa kecil. Seorang yang takutkan Allah S.W.T. tidak akan mengekalkan dosa besar atau dosa kecil. Jangan Bersahabat Dengan Orang Yang Sangat Kasih Pada Dunia
Barangsiapa yang bersahabat dengan orang seperti ini adalah umpama racun yang akan membunuhnya kerana tabiat kawan itu akan menjadi ikutannya. Sabda Nabi s.a.w: “Sangat kasih kepada dunia itu kepada segala kejahatan dan kesihatan.” ( Ibnu Abid-Dunya dan Al-Baihaqi )

Maksud kasih kepada dunia di sini ialah perkara-perkara yang bertentangan dengan suruhan atau larangan Allah S.W.T. dan Nabi s.a.w.
Walaupun ia seorang peniaga, tetapi di dalam perniagaannya itu mengikut suruhan dan meninggalkan larangan Allah dan Rasul-Nya s.a.w serta ia mengingati Allah, dikira agama (ibadatnya). Sebaliknya jika ia beribadat atau beramal tidak mengikut kehendak Allah dan Rasul s.a.w atau ia lalai daripada Allah dan mengingati dunia, ibadat itu dinamakan dunia, walaupun pada asalnya ibadat itu adalah agama. Sabda Nabi s.a.w: “Barangsiapa yang melakukan sesuatu perbuatan ( amalan ) yang bukan daripada perintah kami, maka ia adalah ditolak.”

Orang Yang Benar Perkataannya ( Jujur )
Janganlah suka berkawan dengan orang yang suka berdusta. Orang yang suka berdusta itu tidak dapat dipercayai agama dan dunianya. Demikian akan membawa kepada kebinasaan dunia.
Sabda Nabi s.a.w: “Tiga perkara barangsiapa yang ada salah satu daripadanya, maka ia munafik meskipun ia berpuasa dan solat. Apabila bercerita, ia berbohong, apabila berjanji nescaya ia menyalahi janjinya, apabila diberi amanah, ia khianat.”

Siapakah Sahabat Yang Baik
Seorang sahabat bertanya kepada Rasulullah s.a.w: “Siapakah yang menjadi sahabat yang paling baik bagi kami?” Jawab Rasulullah s.a.w: “Seorang yang apabila kamu memandangnya, kamu teringat akan Allah, apabila kamu dengari cakapnya, bertambah pengetahuan kamu tentang Islam, apabila kamu melihat kelakuannya kamu teringat kehidupan akhirat.”

d answer should be that u r becoming more miserable and tormenting like crap...while d glass remain unchanged rite...(ofcuz...it won work if u a robot or something..)

baca ni semula dari awal...but change d glass of water to problem that u have...
this is how u should take a look of your problem...look it as a glass of water...the longer u hold your glass of water..the more miserable u will become..however..no matter how long u hold up...the glass of water wont change a bit...

so my advice to u...dun wait anymore.. drink your glass of water asap..be sure to drink it slowly otherwise u will choke yourself out...
